Matt Fanali has been working in the field of Substance Abuse, Mental Health for the last 24 years. His life story is one of being in the despairs of addiction to the success he has obtained to date. He has been employed at various treatment centers in Palm Beach County working hard up the ladder of success progressing from a Case Manager to Therapist, Clinical Director and Program Director. He graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and then from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. Matthew also obtained his Certified Addictions Professional license and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

Paul Tessein has dedicated his life to helping others live an alcohol and drug free lifestyle. Over the years, Paul has helped hundreds of people find peace and hope through the storm. An experienced and highly effective Interventionist Certified Recovery Coach, Paul’s influence has resulted in hundreds of people seeking treatment and enjoying sustained sobriety. Knowing that substance abuse is not a localized problem but a national epidemic, Paul founded Recovery Advocates Treatment Center. Paul’s personal experience overcoming past traumas in his recovery shape his vision for an effective trauma focused program at Recovery Advocates Treatment Center. Paul served as Union President of Hamilton, NJ, while also establishing two of the most successful non-profit organizations in the addiction recovery industry. Paul’s personal life philosophy is centered in client-care, which motivates Recovery Advocate Treatment Center’s people-centered focus.
HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
James Witteck received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Central Florida. With seven years professional experience in management, James oversees the professional discipline and business functions of Recovery Advocates Treatment Center, keeping RATC at the forefront of the addiction field. James is a forward thinker and well versed in conflict resolution and problem solving. He is an active member in our local recovery community, has a foundation built on care and compassion, and maintains an open door policy, making him a perfect fit for our Human Resources Director.
Robert received his Associates of Arts Degree in 2003 from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, and relocated to Florida in 2009. Robert began his career in the Substance Abuse field over 4 years ago as a Behavioral Health Technician. Robert obtained all the required certifications by the Florida Certification Board in 2013-14 towards a Certified Addiction Counselor, which he is currently pursuing. Robert’s passion and personal understanding of substance dependence allow him to develop the trust and rapport necessary to meet clients where they are in order to guide and empower them.
KAREN WASSERMAN, LCSW
Karen Wasserman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has specialized in the field of addictions for over fifteen years. She individually tailors her treatment approach to best assist her clients in recovering from addictive and affective disorders, trauma, and behavioral issues. Since 2008, Karen has been administering therapy using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), finding it exceptionally helpful to clients with substance addictions, process addictions, and/or trauma. Karen utilizes her unique brand of expertise coupled with her intuitive, caring nature to assist clients in discovering their own internal power to heal. Karen also devotes time to helping others in her Palm Beach Gardens private practice.
Jesse Reuter, a New Jersey native, received his undergraduate degree in Psychology and CAP at The College of New Jersey. Jesse is a dynamic leader who has motivated countless adults, teens, children and families to first recognize the process of what is working in one’s life and then how to expand on that and maximize their abilities to achieve desired goals. Jesse’s own personal life experience has created a passion for breaking through the dauntless suffering that occurs from addiction and mental health illness, and believes that all people not only have the ability to change, but the right to have a life of purpose and fulfillment.

Katlin Peterson, a New Jersey native, completed the Addiction Counseling Specialist Professional Series at Atlantic Cape College. Katlin’s life experience has motivated her to work in the field of addiction and become passionate about helping others in need. Katlin has extensive experience working as a Lead Female Behavioral Technician at distinguished drug and alcohol treatment centers. Her leadership qualities, and strong organizational and people skills, have made Kaitlin the perfect fit for our Executive Office Administrative position.
